From June 1, campers at Dorrigo South and Pelican Bay camping areas in the Inskip Peninsula Recreation Area, Queensland, will face new regulations prohibiting “bush toileting.” The Queensland National Parks authority has implemented this rule to combat an “unacceptable” poo problem, citing significant health, safety, and environmental risks posed by outdoor defecation.

To maintain the pristine nature of these campsites, visitors are now required to bring portable toilets with sealed waste holding tanks. Non-compliance will result in on-the-spot fines of $464. Rangers will be vigilant in enforcing this rule, ensuring all campers have the necessary portable toileting facilities.
